THE TREKKING GEGANTS ORIENTALS (Eastern Giants) runs through the highest part of the Eastern Pyrenees of Catalonia, where the Cordillera is characterized by having mountains with very smooth shapes and with great heights that place most peaks between 2,600 m and 2,900 m.
They are the mountains at the headwaters of the Nuria, Freser and Ter rivers, with peaks of great proportions such as the Puigmal, the Balandrau, the Pic de l’Infern, Bastiments, Noufonts and Borregues. The trekking presents 2 options of 3 and 4 days, respectively.
Very frequented place and known by Catalan hikers, since the vast majority of them have taken their first steps in the high mountains in these places. We present you a 4-day circular trek that ascends to all the essential peaks and visits well-known places, such as Ulldeter or the Sanctuary of Núria, alternating with other quite solitary places. Good combination of large and smooth peaks with postcard towns such as Queralbs, Tregurà, Serrat or Setcases.
Since 2015, many of the highest areas where this trekking runs have been declared a Natural Park. It is "Natural Park of les Capçaleres del Freser i Ter".
